New copyright lawsuits go after porn on Bittorrent

Three adult media entertainment producers filed suit yesterday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging copyright infringement against hundreds of anonymous defendants accused of trading videos using Bittorrent. This kind of action resembles the much-criticized mass litigation undertaken by the U.S. Copyright Group against hordes of unknown accused Bittorrent users trading movies like Hurt Locker.

In this case, the subject matter promises to be more provocative. Plaintiff Millennium TGA is known for producing content in the “transsexual adult entertainment niche.” Plaintiff Lightspeed Media Corporation is alleging infringement of content including collections relating to its Jordan Capri and Tawnee Stone websites. Plaintiff Hard Drive Productions produces the Amateur Allure website.

Here are the complaints:

Like shooting fish in a barrel.

Now there are a bunch of live targets who will pay as soon as they hear a whisper that their names will be sued for downloading TG porn just to avoid being outed. This will then produce a sea of precedents that can be cited to hammer the ROW.

I want to know how many government employees are downloading porn they already showed some of the top security offices in the NSA and Pentagon were downloading massive amounts but if they are on torents they are also distributing it

Wow – the incentive for named plaintiffs to settle will be huge. It will be interesting to compare published settlement amounts with those of the suits by the RIAA and MPAA. Thanks for the heads up.

I received a letter yesterday. I'm not scared of my name being revealed. Shemale porn is not that big a deal, porn is porn. How wide-ranging would the publicity really be anyway for a nobody like me?

I would be willing to settle however for $1,000. Even that is high but the sum they will likely ask equates to nothing less than extortion and blackmail.

    Hello everyone,

This is John Steele and I always enjoy reading about people who supposedly spoke with me. I will never settle a case for $500. Period. I can, however, list some cases where people thought they were tricky and I sued them individually and now they have that hanging around their neck. My client's content was stolen by thieves. Its like a person is caught is stealing a car and tries to blame the car owner for pressing charges. Last thought: The internet is NOT the place to get legal advice.
